Lunchtime - Salad Wrap

I'm not sure if you would consider this a recipe or an idea. But if you ask me recipes are only there to give you ideas anyway. I don't think I've ever followed a recipe to the T, it makes me feel like a real chef if I add in a little something extra that wasn't on the list =P

You will need:

Soft tortillas
Ham (the smokier the better)
Whole egg mayo
Cucumber
Carrot
Tomato
Lettuce

This is one of my favourites for lunch because you can buy a bag of carrots, a head of lettuce, etc. only cut off as much as you need for each wrap and stick the rest in the fridge for tomorrow.

Of course those are just my favourite ingredients. The ham is happily replaced by ay other meat. Roast chicken is another good one, or even sausages or veggie patties. I highly recommend whole egg mayonnaise because;

A: It tastes better then normal mayo.
B: More likely to be lactose free (check all labels) because they don't need to put milk/cream in it to make it taste better.

I used to grate the carrots, but recently realised that just meant more washing up. Now once I have peeled the skin off, I just keep peeling the edges off until I have long strips. Cut them in half and stick it in the wrap. I'm sure this is a commonly known trick, but it's handy to know.

The rest is pretty self explanatory. Get what you want in your wrap. Wrap it up. Eat it.

I will be back soon with more food ideas!

P.S. I bought my tortillas. I'm not as impressive as my sister yet.

  1. She is impressive, isn't she? She did say though that when I try making my own tortillas I would say, "That was so easy! I'll never buy them again!". I'm sure you would be just as impressive! That looks like a great lunch.

  2. Soy cheese takes a bit to get used to, at least it did for me. I don't like too much of it because it can overpower other flavours. It melts in the microwave after 30 seconds to a minute :) Wraps are so delicious! x
